Individual Classic and Volume Lashes

BLUSH LASH STUDIO

MORE ABOUT BLUSH LASH STUDIO

My name is Alexis Smith, I am a licensed cosmetologist and I am certified in individual eyelash extensions. Applying lash extensions to eyelashes is a practice that enhances the length, thickness, and fullness of natural lashes. The extensions consist of mink hair and are applied with medical grade adhesive. They are put on top of every single natural lash one by one, as long as the natural eyelash is long and strong enough to support the lash extension. The life span for lash extensions is 2-3 weeks depending on how you care for them. The application takes anywhere from one and a half to two hours depending on how many natural lashes you have. For example, if you only have 50 natural lashes you can only get 50 eyelash extensions. They are great for everyday wear, special occasions, and vacations. I take pride in my wonderful team that I have selected to perform your lash experience, hope to see you soon!

AFTER CARE:

Do not get lashes wet for 24 hours. That means any wetness, crying, removing makeup, sweating, even showering because there is still moisture in the air.

No steam, sauna, or swimming for 48 hours. That means any steam, hot tub, bath tub, poring out boiling noodles, dishwasher, or blowing on hot tea/coffee.

Absolutely no oil based products around your eyes. Any type of oil will break down the adhesive causing them to fall out prematurely. So be careful of your face wash, moisturizers, and eye creams. Apply them around your eyes.

Absolutely NO mascara on the extensions. It will shorten the life span of your lashes. Other makeup is fine, it just cannot be waterproof. Eyeliner can only be liquid or powder. Pencils, crayons, and gel have oil in them. Eye makeup can ONLY be removed with LASH WASH, nothing else! Regular face wash can be used on your face just not your eyes.

Cleanse your lashes with our lash shampoo we have at the studio every other day, daily if you wear makeup, workout, or are naturally oily. Our natural oils and sweat can cause a build up on the lashes and cause the adhesive to break down. So make sure if you work out and are sweating a lot you cleanse your lashes immediately after so the salts from the sweat are not resting on the lashes. Also recommend wearing a headband while working out.

Wash your lashes at the sink not in the shower! The shower head is too aggressive for the lashes. Apply lash shampoo with the brush that is attached in a downward motion and rinse with cool water. Do not scrub in a back and forth motion! Once all the shampoo is removed let air dry and brush with your spoolie.

Whatever side you sleep on is the side you will loose lashes on first. Ways to help this is to sleep on your back or use a silk pillow case so your lashes aren’t being pulled while sleeping on them.

COSMETIC TEETH WHITENING

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The main side-effect of teeth whitening is winding up with a fabulous, beautiful, white smile. Now, in all seriousness, the following are the typical side effects of an at-home or professional teeth whitening treatment. Please be aware of these before attempting any teeth whitening treatment.

Tooth Sensitivity

Depending on the type, duration and strength of the teeth whitening treatment, some people can experience some tooth sensitivity, colloquially known as “zingers”, during the first 24 – 48 hours after the whitening treatment. The stronger the gel, the higher the chance of getting zingers. Beaming White gel balances whitening power with sensitivity in order to provide amazing results with little-to-no tooth sensitivity.

These conditions may increase or prolong tooth sensitivity from bleaching treatments: already sensitive teeth, recently cracked tooth, micro-cracks, compromised enamel, some other dental conditions.

If you experience tooth sensitivity after the treatment, you can brush apply our Minerals™ Enamel Booster gel (which is a densensitizing and remineralizing gel) or brush your teeth with Sensodyne™ toothpaste to ease the discomfort. Follow this routine until tooth sensitivity goes away. With Minerals™, only a few applications would be necessary, while with Sensodyne you will probably have to brush with it for several days.

Blanching and Minor Gum Irritation

Blanching is when the gums turn white and possibly even sting a little after a teeth whitening treatment, particularly with a professional teeth whitening treatment. Blanching is normal and usually goes away in 5-20 minutes. Rinse your mouth well.

If you experience severe irritation or blistering, stop the treatment immediately. Rinse your mouth with warm salt water and consult your doctor if desired. You may have an allergic reaction or gum disease.

Calcium Deposits May Show Up More

Some people have concentrated amounts of calcium in their enamel, and this usually shows up as white spots or streaks on the teeth. These are most noticeable in children’s teeth, but as people get older and teeth get stained over time, the calcium deposits become not very noticeable. If you have calcium deposits, teeth whitening whitens them more than the rest of the teeth, and they can become quite noticeable. The deposits were always there, so the whitening gel did not create them. That said, over the next couple of weeks, the bright calcium deposits will tone down and will become much less noticeable, so most people don’t think it’s a big deal.

Color Regression

After a teeth whitening treatment, it is normal for tooth color to regress somewhat over time. Sometimes, a noticeable amount of color can return over the days following the treatment. The best way to avoid this or limit it is by applying a liquid or gel containing hydrogen peroxide to your teeth over the next 5 days or so. The best product options for this are a touch-up pen or whitening foam with at least 3% hydrogen peroxide, such as Daily White. Certain foods and beverages such as coffee, tea, spaghetti sauce, and red wine speed up color regression. Be aware that lipstick and tobacco also stain teeth. We recommend that you follow The White Diet for at least 24 hours after a whitening treatment. You should also not eat or drink anything other than water over next 60 minutes following the end of your whitening application.

Damage to Tooth Enamel

Peroxide-based teeth whitening gels penetrate tooth enamel to lift stains within dentin layer of the teeth. During a teeth whitening treatment, the enamel loses certain minerals and the enamel can be weakened ever so slightly. We highly recommend that you use a remineralizing gel immediately following a tooth whitening treatment. It is also important to follow instructions for how often it is safe to whiten your teeth, which depends on the type of whitening gel and the strength. Your dentist is best suited to advise you.

Allergic-Type Reaction

A very small percentage of people experience an allergic reaction that manifests itself as burning and blistering of the gums or lips after using teeth whitening gel. If this occurs, discontinue use immediately, rinse the irritated area well with water, and consult your doctor or dentist if desired. Many people find that an antihistamine helps alleviate the situation.

BEFORE AND AFTER

This treatment CANNOT be used by pregnant or lactating women, people under the age of 14, people with gum disease, open cavities, leaking fillings, or other dental conditions, or people with a known allergy to peroxide and/or to aloe vera. People that have had braces removed should wait 6 months for cement residue to wear off before getting a teeth whitening treatment and people with a piercing or other metal objects in the oral cavity should remove them before the treatment as they may turn black.

To perspective lash artists and their parents,

So you want to be a lash artist? Are people questioning if this is even a real career? I’d love to share our daughters story and then you can decide for yourself. Our daughter Alexis always knew she wanted to work in the beauty industry. Her dad and I have always supported that goal.

As high school graduation approached us, we frequently saw the judgmental looks when asked what she was doing after high-school and we would say she was excited to attend beauty school. We heard various comments from well meaning people when they insinuated that maybe she was taking the easy way out, or selling herself short. We continued to support her dream.

You see, we’ve both spent our entire careers in corporate America.  We’ve dealt with long commutes, office politics, and corporate layoffs.  We knew in our hearts that corporate America wasn’t a place where Alexis could thrive and truly be happy. She needed more freedom to express her unique talents and grow in her passion.  Alexis needed an environment and career that was authentically her. So off to Cosmetology school she went.

After she graduated cosmetology school in 2014 she worked doing hair and makeup. Working in all these areas eventually led her to discovering the art of applying lash extensions.  In 2015, she took her first lash class and has never looked back.  She began doing lashes out of our home while also working at a waxing salon.  Just 3 years later in 2018, at the age of 23 she started her own business. In less than 3 years she went from being a single-employee studio operating out of another business, to now having her own store front with 7 employees.  She is so confident in herself, her business and her future, that she also runs her own lash academy to teach others her craft.

Don’t get me wrong.  None of this success just happened by chance.  There was a lot of hustle, tons of hard work, and significant sacrifice involved. The point is that in following her dreams and being supported by those that love her, she is now a wife, mother, business owner and a growing entrepreneur.

Lashing has created an opportunity for Alexis to have autonomy in how she operates, and the flexibility to manage all of the priorities in her life as she sees fit.  She gets the joy of seeing the impact that her work and the work of her employees has on her clients, and she gets to experience the gift of empowering young women like herself.

So, if you’re still wondering if there is a future in becoming a lash artist, I don’t think you’ll find a better example of what can happen if you are truly passionate and goal oriented.  And parents, if you’re worried that this doesn’t line up with the dreams you have for your daughter…let that go.  That’s your dream.  Let her live a life that defines success in a way that is most meaningful to her.  When you see the glow that comes from being truly happy in what your daughters doing, you won’t regret it.

Best wishes

Alexis’s Parents
